Mr. Nishant Rastogi is the inaugural Managing Director of Lupus Ventures. In this role, he leads all investment activities – including search & evaluation, deal structuring, and portfolio management – as well as fund operations – including investment team and consultant recruitment, business development, investor relations, and coordination of the Investment Committee and Scientific Advisory Network.
Nishant is an accomplished life sciences investor with more than a decade of experience in biotech, medtech, finance, venture capital and private equity. He has served as a Board Director and operating partner for multiple companies throughout his career – supporting their achievement of key regulatory, clinical, and commercial milestones, and advancing scientific progress to improve standard of care across many areas of medicine – including cardiology, pulmonology, urology, neurology, immunology, and others. He has directly led over $200m in structured equity and debt investments, and participated in > $1b in follow-on financings, private placements, M&A and licensing transactions, globally.
Prior to Lupus Ventures, Nishant served as VP & Head of Transactions at New Rhein Healthcare Investors, an international PE/VC firm, founded by former C-suite pharma executives. As a founding member, he played an integral role in the fund’s evolution and growth and was involved in the firm’s investments in Corsair, Theranica, Alveus, American Injectables, Butterfly Medical, Softhale (acquired), Neuraptive, and others.
Prior to New Rhein, Nishant was the founding associate at Broadview Ventures, a Boston-based venture capital fund focused on cardiovascular disease. He was involved in investments in FineHeart, Apama (acquired), Vectorious (acquired), and others. He has also served as an advisor to several disease research foundations on venture fund formation and the role of philanthropy and private investment in advancing new medicines and health equity. He began his career in finance as an analyst at Fidelity Investments.
Nishant earned a BA in Economics from Dartmouth College in 3 years and completeed a 1-yr MBA in Healthcare Management & Finance from The Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern. Since then, he has completed multiple employer-sponsored continuing education programs – including medical science coursework at Harvard, and a certificate in climate change and health from Yale.
