Nishant Rastogi

Managing Director

Nishant is the founding Managing Director of Lupus Ventures. In this role, he leads all investment activities – including search & evaluation, deal structuring, and portfolio management – as well as fund operations – including team and consultant recruitment, business development, and coordination of the Investment Committee and Scientific Advisory Network.

Nishant is an accomplished life sciences investor with more than a decade of venture capital and private equity experience. He has served as a Board Director and operating partner for multiple biotech and medtech companies throughout his career. His portfolio has successfully achieved key regulatory, clinical, and commercial milestones – advancing scientific progress and transforming standard of care across many areas in medicine including – cardiology, pulmonology, urology, neurology, general surgery, and others. Throughout his career, he has helped execute over $200m in direct investments, and helped secure over $1b in follow-on financings, private placements, licensing and M&A transactions.

Prior to Lupus Ventures, Nishant served as VP and Head of Transactions at New Rhein Healthcare Investors, an international private equity firm, founded by former C-suite pharma executives. He played an integral role in the firm’s evolution and growth – including starting the U.S. office, sourcing opportunities, deal evaluation and execution, portfolio management, team building, and fund operations. At New Rhein, he evaluated thousands of opportunities spanning various stages of development and therapy areas. He was involved in New Rhein’s investments in Corsair, Theranica, Alveus, American Injectables, Butterfly Medical, Softhale, Saayva, EirCor, and Neuraptive – and supported these companies across finance, clinical development, manufacturing, regulatory, and commercial functions, globally.

Nishant began his investment career at Broadview Ventures, a Boston-based venture capital fund focused on cardiovascular disease. He was involved in the firm’s investments in FineHeart, Apama, InfoBionic, Vectorious, and others. He has also served as an advisor to several disease research foundations – including Beyond Celiac and Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy – on venture fund formation and the role of philanthropy and private investment in advancing new medicines and health equity. Prior to his work in healthcare, he was an analyst at Fidelity Investments.

Nishant completed his B.A in Economics and Mathematical Finance from Dartmouth College and earned an accelerated 1-yr. MBA from Northwestern University. He has since completed various employer-sponsored continuing education programs – including graduate medical science coursework at Harvard University, and a certificate in climate change and health from The Yale School of Public Health.
